1939-2023
It is with great sadness that we announce that Mr. Allen Reed of St.
Almo, NB, passed away from a brief illness with family by his side on
August 13, 2023.
Allen is survived by the love of his life Polly (McCarty) Reed, his
two sons, Randy Reed (Nancy) of St. Almo, NB, Ricky Reed (Theresa) of
St. Almo, NB, sister-in-laws, Dorothy Everett of Saint John, NB,
Sandra Reed of Fredericton, NB, Heather McCarty of Arthurette, NB,
brother-in-law Jim Smith of Plaster Rock, NB, his grandchildren
Jessica Shaw (Nick) of Florenceville, NB, Cole Reed (Jennifer) of St.
Almo, NB, and Nolan Reed of St. Almo, NB. His great-grandchildren
Everly and Wyatt Shaw of Florenceville, NB, and a special four-legged
companion, Athena. As well as many nieces and nephews.
Allen was an original long-haul trucker, starting as one of the first
in the industry from the area. He enjoyed this career on the open
highway for 50 plus years. Allen was a man of many interests, but the
main things that drove him in life were Polly, the grandkids, the
Toronto Blue Jays, fishing, and hunting, in that order.
Allen was born on September 22, 1939, in St. Almo, NB, to the late
Delbert and Emmeline Reed. He resided in a house adjacent to his birth
home for his whole adult life. Always coming home to Polly on the
Tobique River. Allen was predeceased by his son Rodney Reed, his
parents, his brother Paul Reed, sister Lois Reed and brothers-in-law,
John McCarty and Harland Everett.
Resting at the Tobique Chapel in Plaster Rock, NB, with visitation on
Thursday from 6-8 pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August
18, 2023 at 11 am from the Tobique Chapel. Mr. Kenneth Campbell
officiating. Interment will follow in the Three Brook Cemetery.
For those who wish, memorial donations to the Plaster Rock Public
Library, the Victoria County SPCA, or the NB Heart and Stroke
Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
The family would like to thank the URVH ICU staff for their tremendous
work and care.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home,
Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock, NB.
