Obituary
It is with great sadness that we note the sudden and unexpected passing of Joan on August 10, 2023 at her home in Owen Sound, Ontario. Joan was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis many years ago, but through it all, she persevered as her illness progressed, always maintaining her sense of humor.
Joan was born on June 7,1955 in Longueuil, Quebec, the daughter of George and Frances Simpson and the youngest sibling in her family which included two brothers and three sisters.
Joan’s passions over the years included her love of animals both domestic and wild, her love of the outdoors, gardening and her talent and creativity in her works of art, many of which are possessed and cherished by her family members.
Joan is survived by her three children, Jason Lachance (Tara) of Campbell River, B.C., Alicia Lachance of Brampton, Ontario and Brandon Lachance (Ashley) of Burlington, Ontario as well as three granddaughters, Olivia, Sara and Fallon and one grandson, Parker. She is also survived by her partner, William Clark, Owen Sound, sister Marilyn Jordan, Elizabethtown, New York, and brothers George Simpson, Ville LaSalle, Quebec and Ernest Simpson, Oshawa, Ontario as well as many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her two sisters, Patricia and Judith Simpson.
There will be no calling hours. There will be a celebration of her life at her residence building in Owen Sound, with her final resting place being with her parents and siblings in the family plot at Urgel Bourgie Memorial Garden in St. Hubert, Quebec.
