Joanne Ieleen Reeves, entered into rest, at 91 years, on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, with family by her side. Joanne was the youngest child born to Cleveland «C.O.» and Alma Phillips (nee Flynn). Sister to the late Donald (2016) and the late Robert (2021). Beloved wife and life long partner of the late Kenneth «Buff» Reeves (2022). Lovingly remembered by her daughters, Julie (Al) Newman and Laurie (Chris) Dalley. Dear «Nana» to Amanda (Dan) and Carley (Mark). Great-grandma to Audrey and Elliot. Aunt Joan will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and treasured friends.
Joanne grew up by Balsam Lake, helping at the family resort at Cedar Villa, working in the kitchen and dining room, meeting guests from far and wide. Joanne later trained at Oshawa General Hospital, and enjoyed many rewarding years as a Registered Nurse on the Medical Floor at Ross Memorial Hospital.
Joanne’s first and devoted love was Buff whom she met on the dance floor at Cedar Villa, and the rest, friends say, is history.
Joanne loved times shared with friends and family of all ages. No matter what the season, she and Buff found something to engage and enrich their lives. Cottage times, painting, crafts, photography, music and dancing. She and Buff were fortunate to enjoy a long and happy life together.
Such a full and joyful life together sometimes makes it too difficult for those left behind. Mom has dearly missed Dad as well as friends and family who have passed. She also grew very weary of her own health challenges and often expressed that she wanted to be with Buff. We hope they have found each other again.
Family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Mom’s friends who have been able to keep in touch, and to her new friends and the wonderful staff at Adelaide Place for their kind support of Joan and Buff over the past five years. It was a blessing to know that they were entrusted to such good people.
In following with Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment for both Buff and Joanne will be held this summer near the Phillips family at Coboconk Cemetery.
