Obituary
The angels were singing the oldies when they ushered in our Uncle Johnny to join Mom and
Dad and brother Dave. John was the beloved son of the late Charlie and Terry Alatalo Autio
(late Eino). Dear little brother to Faye Alatalo and to the late Dave Alatalo (Nicole). Dear Uncle
of Tara Turnbull (Kevin), David Turnbull, Dave Alatalo Jr., Emily Alatalo (Franco), Mathew True
(Janet) and Patrick True (Meghan). Dear great uncle of Rowan and Nolan Jokinen. Dear
nephew of Theresa Tillman (late Allan) Dear cousin of Rudy Luukko (Patricia) and the late
Elaine Luukko. Sadly missed by his doting friends, Kim and Charlie and many old family friends.
John was a great cook, skills honed as a youngster learning to make family favourites. He made
the best ever banana muffins and cookies. He relished a good home cooked meal in the
company of family.
Swimming at Bell Park or at Nepahwin Beach was his favourite summer pastime.
John loved cats and dogs and they were drawn to his gentle way. John was a very nostalgic
person and could break into uproarious laughter when recounting a past event or something
said by a family friend or relative.
John loved music, especially the songs of the sixties and seventies. He had a vast catalogue of
musical facts in his head! Name a song and he could tell you the artist and the year of its
release.
John faced challenges from a very young age and faced them with quiet resolve throughout his
life. Rest in peace now, Johnny. We will miss you and lovingly remember you always.
