Obituary of Mary Patricia Davies
Davies: Mary Patricia (nee Alliet) –
In her 81th year, Mary passed peacefully on Saturday June 24th 2023 at Four Counties Hospital comforted by her loving family after a short and valiant fight with cancer.
Mary was born in Malvern England during the war to parents Odiel Alliet and Jean (ne Davis) Alliet landing in Canada as a baby.
She was fierce in everything she did, nothing ever by half measures. She loved deeply and was the backbone of her family.
In her youth she loved to go fast and regaled us with stories of racing cars at Delaware.
She was proud to be a stay at home mom who gladly sacrificed for her children. There was never a hockey or baseball game without her in the stands being the biggest cheerleader.
She took an active role in shaping her community by serving as councillor for the Village of Highgate.
Throughout her life, she gave back as a 4-H leader, Sunday School teacher and longstanding Ridgetown Minor Hockey Registrar.
She was an accomplished sketch artist, seamstress and an incredible cook.
Mary played an integral part in the success of the family business, Davies Legacy Planning Group for 23 years.
She took pride in her gardens and was a Hosta aficionado. Mary discovered her love of golf in her golden years where she met many dear friends and served as the President of her Wardsville ladies’ league.
After tragically losing her husband, Carl Scutowich to a car accident in 1964, she was blessed to find love again enjoying 52 years of marriage with Leonard Davies who missed her deeply.
Devoted mother to Carla Bell of West Lorne, Janet (Aaron) Palmer of St. Thomas and Jeff (Nikki) Davies of Blenheim.
Proud Grandma to Jameson (Michelle), Morgan, Brock, Paige, Owen, Liam and Lila.
Beloved Sister to Ronald Alliet of Thamesville, Art (Sharon) Alliet of Thamesville, Ken Alliet of Ridgetown, Raymond (Kelly) Alliet of Highgate and the late Albert Alliet (1985).
She will be missed by her nieces, nephews, cherished friends and extended family as well as her cat Jack.
Her old friend Ebby will have welcomed her home with love and affection.
There will be a private family graveside service to be held at the Duart Cemetery. A celebration of Mary’s Life will take place within her gardens on Sunday July 16 at 2pm including a dedication at 3pm.
Mary wished that donations be directed to Operation Smile, a cause near and dear to her heart, the Brain Tumour Foundation (Pediatric) or CNIB.
