Obituary
We are heart-broken to announce our wonderful Louis passed away peacefully on January 7, 2023 at his home in Edmonton, AB.
Louis is survived by his fiancé Kirsten Mangold of Edmonton, AB where he last resided; his precious mother, Stephanie King and partner Jason Collings; his sisters, Regina and Maria Acosta-King; his father, Tony Acosta and partner Tani; his maternal grandparents and guardians, Stuart and Sharon King of Blairmore, AB where he spent 10 very special years as a teenager; his paternal grandparents, Marcello and Maria Acosta; his dear aunties and supportive uncles, Shelley and Wayne Crawford, Sharlayne and Mark Makin, Paul and Shawna Acosta, Naomi and Jaimie Acosta; his cousins, Wes and Lindsay Rypien, Taylor and Rayne Makin, Mitch Makin and many more beloved cousins; extended family and countless friends. He was predeceased by his cousin, Rick Rypien.
Louis loved his family and this love was mutual and returned to him unconditionally by anyone who crossed paths with this wonderful young man. Joy was experienced by all who had the pleasure of Louis’ presence in their lives. He was a person of great humility, intelligence, insight and sensitivity.
An avid fisherman, Louis seemed to collect all the bet money for the first fish, the most fish and the biggest fish. The mountains were the solace to his soul and he soon took on the sport of mountain climbing. He scaled many mountain tops with plans for the completion of climbing all the mountains in the area.
In his early years, Louis was a beloved member of the Crossroads Community Church family and later the Mount Royal Swim team as well as the Irish Rugby team, where he and Kirsten met. He was a very talented musician playing the piano, violin and guitar. His friends and family especially enjoyed his many guitar playing sessions around the family campfire. Animals and children were always naturally drawn to Louis and he enjoyed volunteering at Kirsten’s school and meeting her grade 2 class. Louis attended Lundbreck High School, Bow Valley and SAIT where he completed his first-year carpentry. His love for the outdoors led him to eventually go tree planting in North Saskatchewan last summer.
Although Louis was taken from us much too soon, may all who knew and loved him be comforted by precious memories and by knowing that his love still surrounds them.
A Private Prayer Service and Private Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Parish in Blairmore, AB. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by The Mustard Seed (wwwtheseed.ca), or by your local SPCA. Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
