1924-2023
Bryon Martell Cooke, 75, of Fundy Royal Manor, Hillsborough
passed away peacefully on June 22, 2023 at the Dr. Georges L-Dumont
Hospital with his family by his side. Byron was born in
Edgett’s Landing the son of the late Clarence and Evelyn (Milton)
Cooke.
He worked as a cook with the Correctional Institute in
Ontario and retired after 28 years of service. He moved back
to Hillsborough and helped look after his mom when her health was
failing. Byron was an active member of the
Hillsborough Legion Branch # 32 and belonged to the
Hillsborough Senior Citizens. He enjoyed music and
would take his electric chair down to the Kiwanis whenever he could on
Thursday nights for the Rocky Cape Band or any music shows that were
going on. He never let his disability slow him
down and he kept going with a positive
attitude.
He was a big part of the Fundy Royal Manor
family, he would arrange movie nights and always
had a movie or show for the afternoons. He donated his
collection of dvds and music videos to the home for everyone to enjoy,
he had hundreds of them. He had a big heart and
was always helped out whenever he could, he kept an eye on all the
residents and made many friends.
The family would like to say a very special thank you to
all the staff and friends at Fundy Royal Manor that made Byron’s last
years comfortable and made him feel at home, they became like family,
also to Dr. Annick Murphy and the Doctors and Nurses at the
Dr. Georges L- Dumont Hospital. It was truly a blessing to
know he was well cared for. All the kindness shown
and care given will never be forgotten.
Honouring Byron’s own wishes there will be no visitation or
funeral service.
For those who wish donations in his memory to the Green
Hill Cemetery, Edgett’s Landing would be greatly
appreciated.
