It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mother, Henrietta Tedder nee Kemp on June 10, 2023. Just one month shy of her 100th birthday.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Ross and her son David. A loving mother to Margery/Michael, David/Debbie, Kenneth/Gail, George/Debbie and Catherine. Devoted Grandmother to Brandon, Kimberly, Clarice, Elizabeth, Shannon, Marc, Marissa, David, Shauna, Caolan and Keenan. She was a Great Grandmother to 7, and with 2 more coming, her legacy continues to grow.
She was determined to keep and maintain her independence and will be remembered for her strength, tenacity and quick wit. Along with the sheer will to “do it herself”.
We are grateful to the many friends with whom she shared her life, specifically, Margo, Marg and Dolores. Your devoted friendship meant the world to her and brought her many hours of comfort and joy.
She was an avid reader, giving us all the gift of literacy and volunteering later in life with Adult Literacy. Henrietta believed in the strength of community and volunteered at the Ross Memorial Hospital for many years. She was also an avid Blood Donor, spanning many decades of regular donations. She was a fixture at the Water Aerobics Programs, building many friendships along the way through these connections. Nor would she ever pass up an opportunity for a good card or board game. Many days were spent in playful competition with her family and friends.
She loved adventures, both big and small. Fearless to take the path less travelled and to pursue unexplored opportunities with the love of her life beside her, boldly continuing to do so on her own after his passing. Having lived just shy of 100 years her life experiences were plentiful and many.
Second only to her family, nothing can replace her joy of the water and boating through the vast inland waterways of Ontario and beyond. This was indeed her happy place, where she was equally invigorated with anticipation of excitement, but also with solace and peace.
We will fondly remember our devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother with the spray of the water breaking over the bow of the boat, the sun on her face, and the wind in her hair. She was an icon for all that met her and has left a permanent footprint of love in our hearts.
Lastly, our family extends many thanks to those at Woods Park, in Barrie and to those who cared for her in the final stage of her life. We are grateful for the compassion, kindness, care and the words of respect that you shared with us as she passed peacefully. She was truly a great woman.
