Helen Beatrice Cox-
88, of Miller Road, Truro, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 11,
2023 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro, surrounded
by her loving family. Born in Truro, she was the daughter of the late
Chester and Myrtle (Bartlett) Creelman and was the last surviving
member of the Creelman family. Helen worked at her family’s
store, Helen’s Grocery, in Murray Siding, where she met the
love of her life, Wilfred, «The Ice Man». She was a stay at
home Mom who devoted her life to raising her children,
Helen is survived by
her daughters, Sherry (Bob) Henderson of Salmon River, Cindy (Derrick)
Bell of Salmon River, Lynn (Barry) Weatherbee of Old Barns; son,
Chester of Salmon River; eight grandchildren, Shannon, Robbie, Ashley,
Tracy, Katlyn and Brandi, Ashley C. and Chris; along with five great
grandchildren. She is dearly missed by her loyal dog, Shianne. She was
predeceased by her husband, Wilfred.
In their earlier
years, you would always find Mom and Dad going to dances with friends
and family. She attended numerous card parties where she enjoyed
playing 45’s. Playing bingo with family and friends was
another one of her favourite pastimes. We can’t forget her
love of shopping!
The family would like
to thank Dr. Amanda Webster, the nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at
the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Hospice Society and the
numerous nurses with VON Home Care for your ongoing support and care
for Mom. She had a very special place in her heart for her girls, son
Ches, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be greatly
missed by her family and friends. Until we meet again,
Mom.
Arrangements have been
entrusted to Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro,
where a visitation will be held 6-8 pm Tuesday, June 13, 2023 and a
funeral service 2 pm Wednesday, June 15, 2023. Private family
interment to follow in Watson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please
consider a donation to VON, Hospice Society, Palliative Care Unit at
the Colchester East Hants Health Centre or a charity of choice.
