Obituary
Graeme Thomas Woods, in his 56-year, died peacefully on April 30, 2023. Graeme was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in July 2020. The intensity of the struggle he faced with humbling strength, grace, and dignity was shared with few. His exquisitely beautiful, gentle nature remained constant and his patience, calm, and kindness were a gift.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland on April 13, 1967, he came to Canada with his parents Catherine and Gerald Woods (deceased), and brother Alan Woods. His Mum “Rena” is an unwavering source of strength and support and he loved her beyond words. Graeme grew up in Ajax Ontario, where his many interests were encouraged. He was a natural talent and enjoyed his time playing guitar, baseball, hockey, skiing, and golfing.
At St. Bernadette Elementary, he formed lifelong friendships and a brotherhood with Greg Peech (Trisha), Michael Peech (Jennifer), Jamie Peech, and Paul MacDonald (Laurie). He considered Celine Peech (Steve) a little sister and she forever held a special place in his heart. Graeme spent countless hours at the Peech home and treasured every life shaping moment. Graeme and his wife Sandra (nee Young) attended Ajax High School and shared a union of transformative love and friendship for 40 years. He was an exceptional father to sons Andrew and Dylan. He worked hard to provide for his family, and was ever present through their lives with encouragement, guidance and support. Graeme was a treasured son in law, brother, and friend to the Young family. He will remain forever cherished by Mother-in-law Darlene, and siblings Michael, Nancy (Brian), Christine (Kevin) and Peter (Leanne). Peter was 10 years old when Graeme first came into his life, and with respect, humour and music formed a special and unbreakable bond.
Graeme began his career as a successful small business owner in Durham Region. He operated catering trucks for 15 years before opening a custom millwork shop. The purchase of a property on Little Redstone in 2000 led to the development of properties on Redstone and Kennisis Lake where he has resided for the last 10 years. Graeme was a licensed Real Estate Sales Representative for 10 years, the last 7 of which were with Remax Professionals North. He was grateful for the exemplary leadership and the support, and mentorship he received from his colleagues.
