Robert Lee Van de Water, aka Uncle Rob, died April 16, 2023, he was 66 years young. He was born dry and wrinkly on March 5, 1957 and enjoyed eight years of retirement. He is predeceased by his lovingly beautiful mother, Lucille May “Betty” Van de Water (nee Sipes), his equally loving and far less beautiful father, Peter Charles Van de Water, and his loving and complicated sister, Jan Louise Van de Water.
Rob was an incredibly generous man-child. He certainly doted on those he loved despite never marrying or having children of his own. He loved his family, his close friends and their families. He was a very generous person with his time and resources and you could always rely on him to offer a helping hand. He was also a romantic at heart and it is too bad that Rob never found the right life long companion, maybe he was single for a reason…
He had a life long passion for cars and later bikes – he loved driving, particularly on backroads during the fall. He cruised the mountains out west, the coast out east and all across Ontario. He drove in every province and two territories, he was truly a vehicle connoisseur. I’m sure that some of his finest memories involved him driving and the people and places that were part of the ride. I will miss my uncle Rob very much as he was my last connection to my formative upbringing in Preston and for that I am thankful. I hope all your wildest dreams come true.
