It is with sadness that we the family of Bernadette Couture, wish to announce her peaceful passing, following a courageous battle with illness, on April 28th, 2023, at the V.O.N. Sakura House, Woodstock, in her 92nd year. Bernadette was born in Lac-Mégantic, Frontenac, Quebec. Bernadette was a long-time resident of Queen Street, Langton. Bernadette will be remembered for her strong faith and devotion to her church and the community. Bernadette was an active member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church. She lived out her faith through steadfast volunteering between Sacred Heart Church, the Sacred Heart Catholic Women’s League (member for 60 years) and the Langton Merrymakers, where she enjoyed many friendships. Until the very end, Bernadette’s faith remained strong, and she looked forward to being reunited with her family members in Heaven. Lovingly remembered by two sons and three daughters-in-law: Peter (Laurie) Couture, of Brownsville; John Couture, of Eden; daughter-in-law Val Legacy-Couture, of Paris, daughter-in-law Rosemary Couture, of Tillsonburg. Always a proud grandmother to: Siobhan, Christopher, Peter-Jeffrey. Bernadette is predeceased by her husband Leandre (Leo) Couture (Feb. 20, 2016), by four much-loved children: Susanne (Dec. 23, 1973), Monique (Dec. 23, 1973), Bernard (Apr. 27, 2017), Serge (Nov. 11, 2020), and by all ten of her siblings.
Friends, relatives, and neighbours are invited to attend public visitation on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023, between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 40 Queen Street, Langton. Sacred Heart Catholic Women’s League Prayers will be held on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. In keeping with Bernadette’s expressed wishes, a public Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 24 Albert St., Langton, by Rev. Fr. Thomas Kuriacko. Burial follows in Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery, Langton. All funeral attendees are invited to attend a Sacred Heart C.W.L. luncheon, held in the Courtland Community Centre (272 Main Street of Courtland), immediately following the interment. Everyone who knew Bernadette is invited to share favourite photos, send personal condolences, send flowers or contribute memorial donations to the “Sacred Heart Church- Building Fund” or to the “VON Oxford” (to benefit Sakura House Hospice), via Bernadette’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com or by contacting the Maurice J.
