Doris Evelyn Hall, wife of the late Lester Owen Dinsmore
Hall, formerly of Bonny River, N.B. died at the Rocmaura Nursing Home,
Saint John, N.B. on April 24, 2023. She was born
in Bonny River, N.B. on August 7, 1932; the daughter of the late
Charles and Edith (Smith) Craig. A loving mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother, Doris is survived by one son, Wayne
(Rosanna) Hall of Bonny River. Three daughters, Ellen
Cullinan of Saint John, Mary Hall (Karl Leaman) of Fredericton, and
Brenda Hall LeBlanc (Bernard LeBlanc) of Saint John. Grandchildren,
Jennifer (Tony) Carr of Alberta, David (Jennifer) Melvin of Alberta,
Julie Hall (Justin Sherlock) of P.E.I., Steven Melvin (Chantal
Lanctot) of Australia, Owen (Ashley) Hatt of Quispamsis, and Ed
(Heather) Cullinan of Nova Scotia. Great grandchildren, Claire Hatt,
Emily Hatt, Grace Melvin and Maggie Melvin; and several nieces,
nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Doris was
predeceased by her brothers, Maurice, Lewis, Norman and Berton and
sisters Hester Hall and Helen Hatt. Also siblings Hazel and Willard as
infants and her son-in-law Peter Cullinan.
Doris had a long career in business. For several years she
operated the Bonny River/Second Falls Post Office until rural post
offices closed. In 1971 Doris attended NBCC in St. Andrews
and graduated from the Business Program. After graduation she was
employed with Connors Bros. Ltd. in Black’s Harbour, N.B. at the Head
Office as an accounting clerk until her retirement in
1997.
Doris loved reading and music and played the piano.
She was a member of the Bonny River/Second Falls Baptist Church Choir
for many years and a longtime member of the St. George Baptist Church.
In her younger years she and Lester enjoyed their camp on
Digdeguash Lake. She was a member of the Bonny River/Second Falls
Ladies Auxillary and the Granite Town Seniors. She was well loved and
will be greatly missed.
Special thanks to Ridgeview Manor and Terrace Court at
Rocmaura Nursing Home for their kind, excellent care.
Arrangements are in the care of the St. George Funeral Home
(506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B. Visiting will be at
the St. George Baptist Church on Monday, May 1 from 1 to 2 pm;
immediately followed by the service at 2 pm. Internment to follow at
the Second Falls Baptist Cemetery. In Doris’ memory, donations may be
made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick (www.alzheimer.ca) ,
Heart and Stroke NB (heartandstroke.ca) or a charity of the donor’s
choice.
