September 8, 1964 – April 16, 2023
On the morning of April 16th our beloved son, brother and friend passed away at the age of 58. Dennis had a short battle with pneumonia and passed of heart failure. We are devastated to lose him but have comfort in knowing he has moved on to be with his dad. Dennis was born in Hespeler (Cambridge) and, though he moved to Calgary for a short time, he returned home to his favourite town. Dennis was the beloved son of William “Jerry” Marcy (predeceased) and Carol Marcy. He will be deeply missed by his sister Kim Marcy, brother-in-law Barry Wideman and niece Kara Marcy. Dennis will also be missed by his uncles and aunts and his many cousins, of which some felt he was more like a brother to them than a cousin. Dennis received his business degree at SAIT (Calgary) and eventually went to work at the family business. After his father’s death, Dennis, along with his mom, ran the business until his retirement a few years ago. Wanting to get back to work, he enjoyed his recent job at an auto parts company. One of Dennis’ greatest joys was golfing with his life long friends. Dennis got two holes-in-one at Puslinch Golf Course. He also enjoyed downhill skiing, especially Whistler, until he broke his leg a few years ago. Dennis was a quiet and thoughtful person. He was extremely generous and would often do small gestures or give gifts to help make it easier for those who were having a difficult time. We are not sure how we are going to move past this loss but knowing that Dennis was loved by so many gives us comfort. We look forward to you joining us to share your stories of Dennis at his Celebration of Life at the Hespeler Legion on Saturday May 6 from 12-5pm. Dennis would have preferred to have everyone spend time together and have a few beers in his honour. A private family burial will take place prior to his Celebration. We would like to thank the amazing ICU nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital. They were a blessing to us as we cried buckets of tears in our moment of despair.
