In the early morning
hours of April 14, 2023, the world lost an incredible husband, father,
and grandfather and our world has been forever changed. Dexter Leslie
Lindsay, 82 of Truro, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving
family.
Dexter was born in
Belmont, Colchester County, to the late Alfred Steel Lindsay and Pearl
Mae (Morrisey). He was the youngest of six children and has been
predeceased by brothers, Sam (Bella) and John; and sisters, Clara
(Irvin) and Elsie (Steven). He is survived by his brother, Russell
Lindsay (Ann, deceased).
Dexter dedicated
himself to his work at Stanfield’s for over 35 years,
retiring in 2003. His colleagues regarded him as highly skilled and a
dependable friend. However, Dexter’s greatest joy in life
was his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Barbara (Mont),
for 62 years; a loving father to his children, Carolyn MacArthur
(Greg), Randy Lindsay (Alison), and Jennifer Lindsay-Pond (Noel). He
was a doting grandfather to his grandchildren, James, Elizabeth,
Abigail, Sasha, Katherine, and Mila and cherished the time he spent
with them.
Dexter was a man of
exceptional character and integrity. He lived his life with honesty
and humility, always putting the needs of his family first. He was a
role-model to his children and grandchildren instilling in them the
importance of hard work and respect. In his free time, Dexter enjoyed
the simple things in life; his favourites were Sunday drives with his
wife, spending time at the shore and lending a hand on projects. His
wit, wisdom, and on-point advice will be deeply missed by all who knew
him. His legacy will live on through his family and the memories they
shared together. Rest in peace, your love and guidance will never be
forgotten.
Arrangements have been
entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young
Street, Truro, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on
Wednesday, April 19, 2023. A private family burial will be held at a
later date. If so desired, donations to Salvation Army Corps are
