Obituary for
William Peter Ostashewski
We are sad to announce the passing of William (Bill) Peter Ostashewski of Lamont on June 25, 2022, at the age of 84 after a battle with cancer. Bill was an educator and farmer who taught others about hard work and the importance of sharing. His optimism, passion for farming, bison ranching, beekeeping and dedication to educating others was known to many people.
He is predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Marcella; his parents Constantine and Kateryna; a brother, Fred; and two sisters Natalka and Anne. He is survived by his six children, Nathaniel (Susan), Nadia, Patricia, Matthew, Marcia (Peter) and Paula (Trevor); seventeen grandchildren, Sasha, Zenon, Kassian, Kayla, Whitney and Jackson, Robert, Thomas and Andrew, Michael and Nicholas, Illya, David, Jakob, Ana, Corvin and Soneva; six great-grandchildren; and his sisters Mary and Betty.
Known for his generosity by sharing his honey, garden produce, and wild meat, Dad left a wonderful example of how to share with your family, friends, and neighbours. Born in Biggar, Saskatchewan in 1938, he married Marcella in 1963 and spent most of life on their family farm near Chipman, Alberta. Bill was a devout Catholic and his faith helped him through many challenges.
We extend our gratitude to the palliative and home care teams for the wonderful care they gave Bill.
