Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of William Peter Dunlop on October 14, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Port Elgin, NB, on March 7, 1932 to the late Watson and Catherine (Wedge) Dunlop and was the loving husband to his late wife of 57 years, Patricia (McEachern) Dunlop who passed away in 2019.
Bill was a member of the Canadian Army and Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was always proud of his service and after leaving the Armed Forces, he became a lifelong member of Legion Branch #69. When he joined civilian life, he became a Claims Reviewer for the Canada Employment Centre where he worked for over 40 years before retiring in 1991. Bill was a simple man who enjoyed the small things, like picking blueberries, participating in Toastmasters, and had a love for anything to do with the outdoors. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his three sons, Stephen (Carol), Kent (June) and Scott (Mei); his 5 grandchildren, Kevin, Kelsey, Abby, Elizabeth and Andrew; his sisters, Phyllis Potter, Ruth Dunlop and Brenda Sharkey; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Robert, Kenneth and Watson; as well as his sisters, Mary and Amelia; and brothers-in-law, Cyril and Jim.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will take place on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 11am with interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Bill’s request was that a person make a memorial donation in his memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
