Weldon William Dunnett
June 20, 1937-October 22, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Weldon William Dunnett, husband of the late Elizabeth (Stewart) Dunnett on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the age of 85.
Weldon was born in Whitney, NB, the youngest son of William and Estella (Lobban) Dunnett.
He was employed with Imperial Oil for over 30 years as a tanker delivery driver. Upon retiring at the early age of 55, he then enjoyed working in his woodlots.
Attending Stewart’s hockey practices and games provided much joy to Weldon. When the grandchildren, Reece and Morlan started playing hockey he never missed a game. In later years he loved attending the Sunny Corner Thunder games.
Weldon was a member of St. Philip’s United Church in Whitney.
Weldon is survived by his daughter, Ellen Silliker (Roy); sisters Eleanor Stewart and Thelma Stewart (Hayward) of Fredericton; Sisters-in-law’s Helen Dunnett of Fredericton; Rosalie Dunnett of Quispamsis; Lynn Hogan (Louis) of South Esk; Corinne Stewart of Thunder Bay, ON; Mary Agnes Stewart of Miramichi; Brother-in-Law’s: Hayward Stewart (Thelma) of Fredericton; Byron (Donna) Stewart of Cassilis; well as grandson Reece Tozer and granddaughter Morlan Silliker.
He was predeceased by his son Stewart Weldon Dunnett; infant sister, Frances Dunnett; brothers Murray Dunnett, Greg Dunnett; sister Ruby Whitney; brother-in-law’s Sterling Whitney, Edwin Stewart, Frank Stewart, Hughie Tweedie, Carmen Stewart; Sister-in-Law Ruth Tweedie and Catherine Stewart; nieces Frances Steen, Darlene Whitney and nephew Wayne Dunnett.
Special thanks to Judy and Kelly of Kelly’s Special Care Home for the great care that was given to Dad while he was a resident there. Also special thanks to the staff of Dr. Losier Hall – Doyle Court. And a very special thank you to Dr. Francois Swart for the care given to Dad over the years.
The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Thursday, October 27th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Friday, October 28th at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Geza Szemok officiating. Committal will be in the Chapel with a private burial at St. Philip’s United Church Cemetery, Whitney, NB
