It is with profound sadness that we the family of Wayne Paul Neumann announce his passing on October 31, 2022 at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg Manitoba.
Wayne was a Printing Press operator for over 27 years with his career spanning from Kromar Printing to Labels Unlimited. He took great pride in his craft and had an eye for detail and the ability to creatively troubleshoot almost any problem encountered in a day. He often said the reason he enjoyed the printing industry was because there was always something new to learn even when having worked on a specific machine for years.
A part time job working with the handling and set up at Kegs for various sporting and music events at the old stadium and the current Canada Life Centre was another source of pride for Wayne as well as the start of many an interesting story that he would spin. He had the gift of being able to converse with anyone and met many of his favourite musicians and players through this job. t
He had a passion for music, of all genres and styles, especially the groups from the 1960-1970 era. His collection of vinyl is large and eclectic. His love of music and knack for putting together playlists had him in demand to play at various sports windups and socials in Winnipeg under the moniker of “No Rap Neumann”.
Wayne was a voracious reader of Winnipeg’s daily newspapers and took great pride in sharing his passion and opinions of current affairs within Winnipeg and beyond with other readers through writing Letters to the Editor that in the past year were frequently published. Two years ago Wayne took on as he called it, a side gig, of delivering the Winnipeg Free Press. He took great pride in quickly learning his various routes to the point of having every house number and delivery detail memorized.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch Number 4 (St James) and severed on various committees as well as the executive. The position he enjoyed the most was that of entertainment chair as he got to scout Winnipeg venues for groups that would see large crowds gather on weekends to dance the night away.
His friends and family were the centre of Wayne’s world and their comfort and happiness was always a priority for him. One of his happy places was the golf course at Walhalla North Dakota playing with friends and enjoying post game banter and the dinner buffet at Walhalla Supper Club.
Those who knew Wayne also knew of his great passion for The Boston Bruins, Las Vegas Raiders, and college football. He would staunchly support and defend his teams through their lean years and good. He also was extremely vocal in voicing his displeasure with one team in particular, that those who knew Wayne can easily name.
Wayne faced his cancer diagnosis and treatment with his quiet calm and steadfast determination which he channeled through to his admission to Health Science Centre this past weekend. The family would like to thank his family doctor, his team at Cancer Care Manitoba as well as the doctors and nurses at Health Science Adult Emergency and the 4th floor for the care and comfort they provided to Wayne.
Cremation has occurred. A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held Saturday November 5, 2022 at the St James Legion Branch # 4, 1755 Portage Avenue between the hours of 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
