Vivian Rose Burton, aged 60, passed away after a sudden and difficult battle with Pancreatitis in St. John’s, Newfoundland on November 12, 2022 at 2:33AM. She passed surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Vivian’s strength and perseverance throughout her battle was nothing short of incredible and really demonstrated how amazing she truly was.
She is survived by her husband Larry Burton, her daughters, Contessa Short (Rory) and Samantha Gillingham (Justin), her step-daughters, Lori Burton and Crystal Homewood, her parents, Gordon and Martha Randell, her siblings, Marvin, Norma and Mona Randell, her grandchildren, Hadley Gillingham, Seth Gillingham, Hannah Botham, Alicia Ackerman, Seth Ackerman, Zander Homewood, and Melissa Kavanagh and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and others who loved her dearly.
Born and raised in Newfoundland, moved to Alberta after meeting her husband and falling in love with her best friend. She worked hard to set the best example for her children, ensuring their happiness came first.
She had recently retired and was looking forward to spending quality time with her newest grand baby.
Vivian loved her family, making it her passion to put everyone’s happiness above her own. A truly selfless woman, who loved to bring people together to share food and laugh. She had a talent of making everyone feel safe and welcome, a true angel on earth.
Vivian will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
The family would like to thank the incredible medical team in ICU at St. Claire’s Mercy Hospital, they went above and beyond for both Vivian and her family.
There will be no public visitations.
The funeral service took place from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Baie Verte, NL on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 11:00 am with Reverend Madonna Boone officiating. In keeping with Vivian’s wishes, cremation will follow.
An additional service will be held in the near future in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vivian’s memory to the SPCA, 155 Macalpine Crescent, Fort McMurray, AB, T9H 4A5.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL.
