Obituary of Tom Curtis
Tom Curtis, age 69, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away suddenly surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
He is survived by his beloved wife Margie Curtis and his Daughter Cayla McKechnie (Bruce), sons Shane Curtis (Lisa), and T-Jay Curtis, Father Wilfred Curtis, Sisters Sheila McVicor (Grant), Lauren Bilbey (Rob), Janet Cobden (Peter), Brothers Norm Curtis (Beve), Phil Curtis (Deidra), Murray Curtis (Melanie). Brothers and sisters-in-law, Patti and Farley Fries, Lori and Randy Vertone, Carol and Ronny Bachmeier, Kathy and Mark Peters, and David and Vanessa Friesen. Along with his four precious grandchildren, Jaycee, Ben, Daniel, and David and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mom Jeanine Curtis, sister-in-law Denise Curtis and nephew Jamie Bilbey.
Tom was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba on September 13, 1953, and as a young child they moved to Steinbach where he grew up with his six siblings. Tom worked numerous jobs as a young man until he landed at Manitoba Hydro at 19 years of age. This is where he spent his entire career working his way up through various positions eventually retiring at age 56 as a Customer Service Operations Interlake North Department Manager.
Tom met Margie in 1975 and fell in love. They were married on October 22, 1977. They were blessed with three beautiful children. Tom’s passions in life were fishing, hunting, curling, cheering on the Jets, playing crib and backgammon, bonfires and spending time out at the Curtis Shack making memories with the ones he loved. He also loved to travel with friends and family. Tom was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for many years.
Our dad was the life of the party, kind and generous, with the greatest sense of humour. Always ready to pour you a drink and welcome you to their home.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 25th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Manitoba. A private interment to be held at a later date.

We would like to thank CancerCare Manitoba, and all the amazing doctors, nurses, and family who cared for our dad through his journey. Also, thank you to the many hands that cared for him at St. Boniface Hospital in his final hours.
