Our beloved Timothy (Tim) John Osborne went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2022, surrounded by family and held by his loving wife Cariann, after a courageous battle with cancer. Tim was born in White Rock, BC on September 15th 1982; a birthdate shared with his dad and his maternal grandmother. Tim lived his first 10 years in Langley BC where he was involved in church, music, and many sports.
In 1993, Tim, along with his family moved to Vernon, BC where he continued to play many sports and pursue his passion of music. Tim played in several bands eventually touring across the country in a school bus turned tour bus. Tim spent his late teens and early twenties living in the lower mainland and Vernon. On March 7, 2007, Tim became a father to Cambria Laine Osborne, the love of his life.
A leap of faith in his late twenties brought Tim back to the Okanagan where he met and fell in love with Cariann Hewison. Tim and Cari married on December 31st 2017. Tim graduated with a BA from UBC Okanagan in June 2017. By August 2017 he enrolled in UBCO’s School of Education and was a graduate of their first ‘revamped’ education degree. In December 2018 Tim graduated with a BEd and was hired as a full-time middle school teacher in March 2019 at Kamloops Christian School.
Tim was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer in January 2020. In the 2 1/2 years post diagnosis you would often find Tim playing gigs with his band or playing with the worship team at Gateway City Church, even playing just weeks before his passing. Tim continued teaching until the end of the 2022 school year fighting through pain and weariness. He wrote his final report cards in June.
Tim did not allow his diagnosis to define him or slow him down. Outside of teaching, you could find Tim on the ice playing hockey, hitting the links on the golf course, playing tennis with friends, or setting breaks for his hockey cards. Tim was a born performer, singing his first solo at Bethany Baptist church two weeks before his second birthday. Born into a musical family, Tim carried this passion through his life, and continued to play shows with his band into the last month of his life.
Tim cared deeply for his friends and family, and would do most anything for anyone. As a teen and young adult, it was not unusual for Tim to bring home a friend who needed a place to stay. He would go out of his way to organize fundraisers for others, and on a whim brought a group together to make sandwiches and hand out lunches to hundreds of people in the downtown east side of Vancouver. Tim’s heart was bigger than most, and he demonstrated that right up until his final days.
Tim asked Jesus into his heart at just four years old. It was Tim’s renewed faith that gave him and his family the strength to navigate through treatments, major surgery and the unknowns of his diagnosis. A song that resonated to Tim was “Hallelujah, praise the one who set me free, Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me” and indeed, Tim was not afraid of death, as he knew with certainty that he would spend eternity in the arms of his Saviour.
Tim was loved by his many family members which include his wife, Cariann Hewison and daughter Cambria Osborne. Parents; Carol Perry (Jim), Randy Osborne (D’ann). His siblings; Landon Osborne (Brittany), Courtney Osborne. Grandparents; Orval Osborne (Esther), Irmgard Nikolai. Nephews; Luka, Noah, Finn, and niece Cate. Ex-wife; Deb Ling. Step-siblings; Sierra, Cheyenne, Nevada, Chad (Esther), Jennifer (David), and Ben (Jen). Tim is predeceased by his dear friend Scott Lipinski. Tim was well loved and is deeply missed by his many close friends, cousins, uncles, aunts, coworkers, and students.
A celebration of life will be held at Oasis Church in Kamloops BC on September 3rd, 2022 at 11:00am.
