Timothy’s Obituary
MURPHY, Timothy Gerard – It is with sad hearts the family of Timothy G. Murphy, of Colliers, announce his passing on Dec 4, 2022 at the age of 76 years. Tim died as he lived, with quiet dignity, surrounded by those he loved best. His last goodbye was one filled with music, song, and stories. He would have been very pleased.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of cherished memories, are his wife of 54 years, Agnes (Lewis), his children Tim (Michelle), Jamie (BA), and Suzanne (Michael Hamlyn), his three precious granddaughters Victoria, Emma, and Olivia who were the lights of his life, his step-grandchildren Chad (Karla) Costello and Adam (Allannah) Costello, step-great grandchildren Kate and Lauren
whom he loved and adored, siblings Margie (John Whelan deceased), Mary (James Thorn) John (Floss), Martin (Kathy), Dorothy (Gary Goldstein deceased), Virginia (Jim Myers), Elaine (Cyril Connors), brothers and sisters-in-law Linda Murphy, Bren (Gerry) Lewis, James (Dolores) Lewis, Marion (Tony) Ryan, Jerry (Yvette) Lewis, Lori Ann Lewis (David McIsaac deceased), Basil Linehan
(Marg deceased), special niece Cathy and great niece Kirsten and a large, loving family of nieces and nephews, extended family and close friends.
Tim was predeceased by his infant sons Tim and Cory, parents Timothy and Bridget, his parents-in-law James and Josephine Lewis, brothers James Martin, Eugene, and James. Tim was born on September 30, 1946, into a family of ten siblings, where he got into plenty of mischief and in his later years told many fond stories of his childhood.
Tim was known for his craftiness and skill in woodworking learned at the hands of his father, a carpenter. He kept this love throughout his life and upon his retirement at age 55, he dedicated his time to making furniture for his family. His work was readily recognized for its quality craftsmanship. Tim began his career as an electrician at 18 years old. He said electricity was “like magic” to him. This career path took him to many work sites across Canada where he gained the respect and comradeship of many. He was known as an intelligent, hard-working, genuine person. He was particularly proud to have worked on the Hibernia project in his home province with his two sons.
Tim loved his home community, Colliers, and volunteered his time to the parish council, recreation committee and as a town councilor. He was an avid fly fisherman, loved to garden, respected nature and enjoyed sharing these passions with his children and grandchildren. His legacy is kindness, humor, friendliness, honesty, integrity, and patience. He will forever live in our hearts.
