Obituary
Following an extended period of declining health, Thomas lan Findlay passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 24, 2022.
Born in Scotland, Tom came to Canada with his family in November 1970. He was proud and happy to be a Canadian Citizen.
He worked for Ocean Steel for 36 years until his retirement in December 2006.
He is predeceased by his parents John and Mary Findlay, and his precious great granddaughter Celesta Elliott.
He is survived by his wife Margaret and daughters Susan Jones (Rick) and Kim Orcutt (Devin) and 7 grandchildren Amy Elliott (Seth); Laura Baron (Nate); Christian Jones (Sarah); Harrison Jones (Paula);
Samantha Sparrow (Ashton); Kaitlyn Jones; and Meghann McMurray (Ian). He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren: Colleen & Carolyn Elliott; William and Lily Baron; Karsten, Sean, Annalisa, Ian, and Mary Jones; Lucas Jones; Kenna Sparrow and Brooklynn McMurray.
Tom was known for his sense of humor and his ability to do cartoon caricatures of friends and workmates. He was a loving patriarch to his family and extended family and a loyal and giving friend to those who knew him.
As per Tom’s own wishes he will be cremated and there will be no viewing or service.
A ‘Remembrance Reception’ will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023, from 2pm to 4pm, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 144 Manchester Avenue, Saint John.
Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to either the Heart or Cancer Foundations.
