THOMAS ALEXANDER YOUNG was born on the family homestead, south of Weyburn
Saskatchewan, August 12h 1931 to Thomas and Bertha Young. He passed away in the
Wainwright hospital January 14th 2022. During his childhood the family moved often because of
the drought during the « 30’s Most of Tom’s growing up years were spent around Findley,
Manitoba. Tom was the second youngest of 14 children born to that marriage. After Tom’s

predeceased by all his siblings. He is survived by two brothers-in-law.
Tom loved to tell the story of when Archie Cooper and Jim Ratcliffe came to their area and had
gospel mtgs in the schoolhouse during the winter of 1939. Tom’s mother made her choice to
serve God in the Spring of 1940. That choice had a huge influence on Tom’s life
Tom left home when he was about 16 and moved to Alberta where he worked in various places.
When Tom was 18 he attended Didsbury convention and made his choice to serve God
there. He kept true to that choice till his dying day. After that convention, Tom spent some time
with the workers at Lacombe where they were working on the convention grounds. He began in
the ministry one day before his 21t birthday. Tom was active in the ministry for 65 years until
failing health made a change necessary. From then until his death, Nando and Minerva Alonzo
kindly cared for him in their home in the Wainwright area. During his time in the ministry Tom
laboured in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Georgia USA and Finland.
A Funeral Service for Thomas Young will be conducted on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 1:00 PM from Creech’s Funeral Chapel, Wainwright. This will be a private family service those wishing to participate may do so via the “Watch Webcast” Link below the photo or under the photos and video tab above. Interment will take place at Wainwright Cemetery. If so desired the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Charity of the donor’s choice.
