Mr. Terence “Terry” Noble, age 78 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 in St. Joseph’s Hospice.
Terry was born October 23, 1944 in St. John’s Newfoundland. He grew up in Southwestern Ontario. Following High School, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in Germany for two years. He came to Port Arthur, attending Lakehead University where he earned his diploma in Forestry and degree in Geography. He began his career with Lakehead Region Conservation Authority, and also worked independently with the Ministry of Natural Resources. Terry’s knowledge and expertise in plant identification and mapping was highly regarded by his peers and even in recent years would gladly help anyone who called. He loved the stock market, even writing a column “The Cynical Investor” and also had a website dedicated to his love of the environment.
Terry met Brenda as young teens, they dated for nine years and were married December 24, 1968. He earned his drivers licence days before the wedding. Together Terry and Brenda welcomed their two children. Terry worked from home often, and because of his flexible schedule was able to chaperone and assist at various school outings. He was often the only dad, but always willing to tie skates and help any kids who needed it. In his retirement, he spent many hours researching his ancestry, tending to his vegetable garden, cooking and going for neighbourhood walks. He loved their crescent and knew every neighbour and dog who lived there. Terry and Brenda instilled in their children the importance of family. Every summer, there were road trips to Southern Ontario to share time with grandparents and cousins. Many stops were made along the way and one of his favourites was Old Woman Bay. His grandchildren were his greatest joy, he played road hockey with them and made trophies, built HotWheels racetracks, showed them how to make pasta from scratch, and of course many hours were spent sharing his love of planes.
Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Brenda; beloved children, Mathew (Lydia) and Tara; cherished grandchildren Cooper, Fisher, Gage and Nixon; siblings, Bob, Judy, Thom, Pam and their families.
Predeceased by his parents and siblings, David and Barbara.
A Celebration of Terry’s Life will be held at a later date for family and close friends. Arrangements have been entrusted to the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Vasculitis Foundation of Canada.
