Obituary of Sophie Shyba
Sophie Shyba ‘Baba’ passed away peacefully on September 27, 2022 at the age of 87. She was born to William and Mary Pochynok on November 18, 1934 near Holden, Alberta. Sophie married her husband Harry Shyba on November 1, 1958, together they raised their family on the farm near Haight, AB
Baba was very active in all aspect of the farm, sporting and social events in many different ways as their kids were growing up and was always willing to lend a hand wherever it was needed. Sophie always made room at her table for all those we brought home or when unexpected visitors came over…chairs were always pulled out and plates in put front of them. We will all miss her wonderful cooking and hospitality.
Sophie is survived by her four children Bill, Roger (Jennifer), Ed and Brenda; her grandchildren Jordon, Jason, Jessica, Kendra (John), Madison; great-grandson Jaxon and her sister Emily McPhail.
She was predeceased by her husband Harry; grandson Kurtis Malick; parents and siblings Joe Pochynok, Bob Pochynok, Ann Kyfiuk and Nancy Anderson.
Sophie worked very hard and devoted her life to her family. She loved gardening and spending time with loved ones and her friends at the coffee shop.
At Sophie’s request there will not be a memorial service – please keep her memory in your hearts.
