Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Esme Gathercole (nee Donvin), who passed away surrounded by family in Southampton Hospital on Sunday December 4, 2022 at the age of 96.
Beloved wife to the late William Alfred Gathercole. Loving mother to daughter Carol (Norris) and husband Ruben (Romero) Southampton and son Paul and wife Carole (Lister) Leeds, England.
“Nan”, will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Jeremy and wife Danielle, Nathan and wife Lara, Emma and Jamie and her great grandchildren, Percy, Penelope, Enya and Rian.
Predeceased by her parents William and Eva Donvin and her sister Olive and brother Don.
Ruth, born in Liverpool, England, immigrated with family to Canada in 1994 where she made her home in Southampton, Ontario. From a young age she developed a love for the Bible and had a deep love for God and neighbour. She loved to be surrounded by nature, loved to birdwatch, loved flowers and gardening, loved to play the piano and classical music. She loved to walk in the rain. She raised two loving children and instilled in them a love for nature and a deep appreciation for it’s Creator.
Her kind positive attitude and beautiful smile will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
