Following a brief illness and one final life-struggle, Rose Mary Coombs passed ever-so peacefully Friday, Nov. 2nd, 2022 (5:30 PM) with her family by her side at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s.
Predeceased by her parents George and Theresa Hewitt (Molloy). Her brother John, her nephews Clyde O’Neill and Aaron Hewitt. Her niece Allison Hewitt as well as her brother In-law Brendan O’Leary.
She leaves the strongest constant in her life; Michael (Mike) Coombs, her husband of 61 years who will miss her every day forever.
Leaving her children whom she raised instilling her morals and ethical values; Edwina (Pat Ward) Portugal Cove South, Reg (Sherry Myrick) Seal Cove, Michelle (Robert Stewart), Pictou Co., NS, Pius (Carmelita Walters), Tors Cove, Calvin (Susan) Witless Bay,
She will be missed and remembered by her loving grandchildren whom she adored. And by, her newest generation, her great-grandchildren, who lit her heart. She felt so blessed to be able to meet and hold them.
Rose leaves her (first) family whom she loved dearly.
Her sisters: Alice (Bill) O’Neill, Marie O’Leary, Ann (Richard) Hewitt, Judy (Sebastian) Gibbons.
Her Brothers: Gerald (Betty) Hewitt, George (Donna) Hewitt, Patrick (Laura) Hewitt and her sister-in law Kathleen Hewitt.
She also leaves her sister-in-law Peggy (Willie) White, Brother in-law Herbert (Violet) Coombs,
Born atop a 315-foot jagged cliff next to a light beacon that guided so many safely on their journey, Cape Pine was her first beloved home. May the brightest beacon guide her safely home 80 years later. You left footprints everywhere in your time but most profoundly in the hearts of those who loved you.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2 PM to 9 PM Saturday Nov. 5 at Fahey’s Funeral Home, Trepassey.
Funeral Mass 11:30 AM, Sunday, Nov. 6 at Holy Redeemer Church Trepassey . Burial immediately after at Holy Rosary cemetery Portugal Cove South.
