Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, Ronald (Ron) on June 17th, 2022, in Kelowna. Dad was pre-deceased by his parents, Leslie and Geertje, and his wife of 44 years, Dianne. He leaves behind his 3 children: Jeff, Kelli, and Shawn, and 3 grandsons: Jaden, Shayle, and Carter. Dad always made time to take us to our sports practices, games, and tournaments – no matter how complicated it made his own life.
He worked for Air Canada for over 35 years in a variety of roles and departments. A career highlight was earning the Air Canada YVR Employee of the Year achievement in 1990. Despite Dad’s declining mobility due to Ataxia throughout his career, Air Canada always ensured they had a place for him in the organization.
Dad loved going out for breakfast and meeting new people. He could always be found with a cheery “Good Morning” and an offer to sit down for a few minutes to catch up on the daily news.
A special thank you to the care teams at The Vineyards Residence. Their love and compassion did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
A memorial service will be held at Valleyview Memorial Gardens (14644-72 Ave. Surrey) on Sunday, June 26th, at 10 AM with a reception to follow. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment to follow the next day.
