Simard, Roger (1930-2022)
It is with great sorrow that the family announces his passing on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at the age of 92. Roger was granted his angel wings, while surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Orphila Simard and the late Marie Simard (née Gagné), Roger leaves behind Lois Simard (née Flake), his loving wife of 69 years. Dear father of Gérald (Sandra), the late Elaine Laakso (Allan), Valérie Vojnovic (Djuro), Daniel (Vicky), Janet Halladay (Scot), François, René (Louisiane). He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren; Monique, Matthew, Danielle, Eric, Adam, Emily, Natalie, Maja, Madeleine, Melanie, Curtis, Lindsey, Nathan, Markel, Tatiana, Olivia and Adèle and his 14 great grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings Rollande Robillard (the late Maurice), Yollande Belisle (the late Maurice), Denise Girard (the late Moïse), Jean-Jacques (Monique), Muriel Simard-Nemeth (Louis), Odette Grenier (Don), Diane Obach (the late Tom), Pierrette Martin, Henri-Paul (Louise), Marc (Collette), Monique Fredette, Lise Renaud (Leo), Pierre (Denise). Roger was a hard working man of many trades and talents who cared deeply for his family. Committed to his community and his Church, he gave generously of his time as a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, being elected to the position of Grand Knight, District Deputy and in the Fourth Degree as Faithful Navigator. Roger was kind and gentle and earned respect with his strong example of true leadership. His fellow Knights were all motivated and inspired by his values of unity, charity, fraternity, and patriotism. His smile could light up any room, and his hugs could warm any heart. His family will forever miss walking into a card game in progress and the smell of his fresh baked « Grandpa bread » that the special ingredient was love. The Simard family will receive friends after 9:30 am, Friday September 23rd, 2022, at Notre Dame du Rosaire Church in Blezard Valley. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00 am.
