Obituary
Roderick Joseph Jesso, of Lower Cove, peacefully passed away at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on September 7th, 2022 in his 78th year of life.
Roderick was born on July 11th, 1944 in Lower Cove to the late Caroline and Johnny Jesso. In 1967, Roderick married his ticket scratching partner and love of his life, Laverna. Those who knew Roderick well knew they could find him either driving around town with his iced capp supreme and Chester’s Chicken in his lap or relaxing in his shed looking through the latest buy and sell book. Every evening you could find Roderick around the table having a game of crib until the crack of 9:30pm when it was time to scratch his ticket.
Roderick is survived by his wife Laverna, his 5 children, Lorraine (Neil) of Ontario, Shirl (Jeff) of New Brunswick, Karen (Dave) of New Brunswick, Patricia (John) of Ontario and Jason (Denise) of Three Rock Cove, his 9 grandchildren, Alaina, Jodie, Madison, Caroline, Carson, Joseph, Charlotte, Greyson, and Parker, his 3 great-grandchildren, Abigail, Troy, and Mason, and his sister Evelyn (Ron) Glenn of Stephenville.
Roderick was predeceased by his mother Caroline and father Johnny Jesso, and his sisters and brothers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Russell’s Funeral Home, 57 Prince Rupert Drive. Following cremation, a funeral service will take place at Our Lady of Fatima Parish on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 10:30am. A celebration of life will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
