It is with broken hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather.
Robert (Bob) Wayne Porter passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney surrounded by his loving family.
Born December 14, 1956, he was the son of Phoebe (Butler) Porter and the late Edward Porter.
Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Denise (Crawley) Porter; daughters, Jennifer (Will) Farrell, Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Michelle (Joe) Walsh, Halifax, Tara (Doyle) Horne, Sydney and Bobbi, Fort Saskatchewan, AB; grandchildren, Abby, Ethan, Nicholas, Alexis, Arianna, Madelyn, Silas, Jayden, Jayce, Austin and Paige; sisters, Brenda Patrick, Sydney, Janice Porter (Georgie Fleck), Seafoam and Shauna (Kevin) LeBlanc, Lexington, SC; and brothers, Donnie (Margie Babineau), Sydney and Kevin (Patricia), Smith’s Falls, ON. He was also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, Bob was predeceased by his granddaughter, Jenna
After many years as manager of Wendy’s in Sydney, he joined Marine Atlantic where he retired in 2018 after 15 years of service.
In his spare time, he loved bowling, playing darts and relaxing at the bungalow in Catalone. He also enjoyed walking and going for drives and tea with Denise.
Bob was an easy-going man. He would give the shirt off his back and was always there to help anyone, and always with a smile on his face. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Mr. Gary Grant officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Tom MacNeil Cancer Patient Care Fund.
