It is with gut-wrenching sadness that we announce the passing of Rob Wilkins on Wednesday afternoon, December 21, 2022, just two days shy of his 67th birthday. We are comforted knowing he will be back in the care of his Mom and Dad, Betty and Alex Wilkins. He will be forever missed by his loving wife and best friend Gale, whom he shared his life with for 44 years. His jokes, ribbing, but always dependable nature will never be forgotten by his siblings Lois and Joe McGrail, Ken and Geraldine Wilkins and Kevin and Lorna Wilkins. Unable to believe the news, but ready to keep his memory strong. He was the much loved uncle of Gerry, Tom, and Tim Wilkins, Steve, Mike, and Matt McGrail, Jolene McCallum, Cory Wilkins, Nicole Racher, Heather Vasey, Jolene Collins, Travis Vandervies, Marcy Vandenberge. Rob also cherished his 37 great-nieces and nephews. The love, support, and joking around extended beyond family to many friends and neighbours, including his bike and sports communities. He was a multi-sport athlete, accomplished coach, bike enthusiast, but most importantly, he was Rob, who would always be there for you when you needed him. We will be left looking for you in the stands, listening for the nicknames you made up for us, missing the smell of the most recent Timmy’s run or packs of hockey cards, you saving us from clearing the snow in our driveways, the post-game advice and finally, the sound of you pulling up on one of your many models of motorcycles. There is so much to miss and you will be in our hearts forever. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Diabetes Canada and Crohn’s and Colitis Canada (cheques only at the funeral home please).
