We, the family of Robert Allan Cartwright, 66, regret to announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, foster father, and friend on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the Northside General Hospital with his family by his side, after a short battle with cancer.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara (MacLeod), his daughter, Jennifer, sons, George (Diane) and Ryan (Katie), grandchildren, Avery and Jorja. Two girls he thought the world of and loved as his own, Jade and Brooke. Along with his family, he leaves behind his very special dog, Bubba (Phoenix), who will miss him greatly.
Besides his immediate family, Robert is survived by his brothers, Wallace, David (Sherry), Arthur (Mary), Dwight (Alain), Paul (Wendy), and Carl, sisters, Roseanne Boyce, Deborah (Kenneth) LaLonde and Ruth Lively. Along with numerous brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special sister in laws, Laverne Cartwright and Laura Lee Nolan, along with friend, Lloyd Mombourquette.

Robert spent over 40 years working as a commercial fisherman all around the shores of Nova Scotia, where he taught his children a love of the ocean and the meaning of hard work. After retiring from commercial fishing, he headed to Fort McMurray, where he spent 9 years as a heavy equipment operator with Suncor.
In 2016, Robert decided to retire and enjoy his time with the love of his life, Barbara. In that same year, Robert’s grandson, Avery Robert, was born, whom he loved to spend time with. In 2020, he welcomed his beautiful granddaughter, Jorja Lynn, this sweet little girl stole his heart. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, as you could see the love he had for them in his smile as his eyes lit up when they were around.
