Rita Babin (née Blanchard)
1926-2022
REXTON, NB – It is with heavy hearts that the
family announces the peaceful passing of Rita Babin, 96 years old, at
the Villa Maria, Saint-Louis-de-Kent on Sunday, July
24th, 2022. Born in Rexton, she was the
daughter of the late Joseph and Anne (Allain)
Blanchard.
Rita was a loving mother and grandmother. She overcame many
hurdles in life but always found time to help others. She volunteered
at the nursing home in Rexton, NB and was an active member of the
Christian Women’s League for many years. She was a devoted
Christian who lived out the love of Christ in every possible way. She
had a love of life and saw each day as a blessing from
God.
Rita leaves to mourn her daughter, Karen Matchett (Lee); her
son Brian Babin (Jeanne); her four grandchildren, Rachel Thompson
(Dwayne), Serge Babin (Angele), Candace Milburn (Scott) and Darla
Anderson (Jeff) and her five great-grandchildren, Jade, Caleb,
Sabrina, Annabelle and Zach; as well as many nieces and
nephews.
Last surviving member of her immediate family, besides her
parents, Rita was predeceased by her son, Gary; her sisters, Regina,
Marguerite, Alice, Alfreda, Emma, Delia and Evelyn; and her brothers,
Patrick, Lionel, Frederic, Arthur and James.
Rita’s family would like to express their deepest
appreciation to the staff of La Villa Maria in Saint-Louis-de-Kent.
The staff treated Rita like family and ensured she was provided with
the best care and love.
Following Rita’s wishes, there will be no
visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on
Saturday, July 30th, 2022 at 1:00 pm,
Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Cemetery with Pastor Raymond
Vautour officiating, with a reception to follow at the Rexton Catholic
Church Hall. It is open to all family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s memory may
be made to the Canadian Red Cross or to the Kent County Community
Volunteer Action Food Bank.
