Obituary of Richard Bradley Essensa
It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Bradley Essensa of Waasis, announce his sudden and unexpected death at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at the age of 66. Born in Harvey Station, NB, on May 22, 1956, he is survived by his wife of 36 years, Leah (Hayward) Essensa.
In addition to his wife, Richard leaves behind his daughter, Lindsay (Kyle Price), and son, Dylan; precious granddaughter, Hayden; sisters, Gwen Essensa, Karen (Claus) Schaus, Cindy (Bradley) MacLean and Sheri (Jack) Piercy; brother, David (Barb) Essensa; sister-in-law, Hilda (late Russell) Hayward; nieces and nephews, David and Jeremy Essensa, Krysta and Brandon Schaus, Ashley and Brett MacLean, Jeffrey (Kristen) Piercy, Afton (Jon) Curtis, and Robert (Danielle) Hayward; great niece, McKinley Piercy, and great nephews, Brady Piercy and Pierce Curtis. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Eileen (Gass) Essensa; parents-in-law, Daniel and Florence (McCoy) Hayward; brothers-in-law, Gerald Hayward and Russell Hayward.
Richard served in the Canadian Armed Forces (2RCR) retiring in 1994. He loved hunting, fishing, and going out on his side-by-side with his wife and granddaughter. Richard was a very proud Papa and loved spending his time with the Light of his Life, Hayden, who will miss him terribly.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 11:00 am with Fr. John Jennings officiating. For those who wish, donations in Richard’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society, Waasis Cemetery Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
