It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Richard (Dick) Melville Dundas on Saturday, August 27th, 2022, aged 82 years.
He is predeceased by his father Gerry and mother Marjorie, of Pelly, Saskatchewan.
Leaving to mourn his daughters Karen Ashton (David) and Katherine Dundas Gough (William); cherished grandson Ethan; brother Jim and wife Colleen; sister Pam and husband Maurice; nieces Leslie, Hilary, Sydney, Tori, and Bret; special friends Cynthia and Kevin Ryan, Wayne and Joan Peddle, and also the staff and residents of Tiffany Village. Special thanks over the years to Dorothy and Claude Saunders.
Born in Canora, Saskatchewan, Dick spent most of his 35 year RCMP career in Newfoundland, and retired as Staff Sgt. Outside of work, Dick developed long lasting friendships in his many years at the St John’s Curling Club, officiated track and field events, and was an ardent supporter of the Police Curling Association. He loved to watch wrestling, curling and football, especially the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and he was a walking encyclopedia of sports statistics and historical events.
Visitation is Wednesday, September 7th from 10-12am and 2-9pm at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road in St. John’s, with a celebration of life on Thursday, September 8th at 11am, also at Carnell’s.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fallen Members Fund Memory Garden c/o h.escott@hotmail.com, Curling Canada Foundation – For The Love of Curling, or a charity of your choosing.
