With great sadness, the family of Ric Chessman announces his sudden passing at home in Milton on July 23, 2022.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Maureen (Foley) and his 3 loving daughters, Jane (Chase), Emily (Mo) and Shannon (Cooper).
Ric was born in St. Johns, NFLD, and the youngest of 3 boys. Ric had a long and successful career in logistics. After living in Halifax, and Ottawa, the family returned to Milton to raise their 3 daughters. Being a father to his girls brought Ric the most joy. Watching them develop into strong, confident, successful young women filled him with much pride. They are devastated by his loss.
Ric enjoyed spending time with “the boys at the garage”, cheering for the Jays and Sens and mocking the Leafs. His lifelong passion for music and sports was evident to anyone who knew him.
Left to mourn are his brothers Gary (Cindy) Chessman, Tony Chessman, father Dave Chessman and uncle Dan Chessman and family. He was predeceased by mother Sadie (John), uncle Martin Power and father in law Bill Foley. Ric also leaves behind mother in law Eva Foley, brother in law Bill Foley (Bonnie) and sister in law Kathy Veneman.
Ric was a caring uncle to Ryan, Samantha, David, Maggie and Abbey. He will be missed by his grand-dogs Max, Louis, Cardi and Taco, but especially by his own pup, Buddy.
To respect Ric’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A private family service and celebration of Ric’s life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Oakville Humane Society in Ric’s memory would be appreciated.
“Fare thee well, Love”
