COVEY, Richard Carl ~ Age 53, of Waterville, Kings Co., who was born in Berwick, on April 2, 1969, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Uncle Dick, as he was known to his nephew and nieces (along with many other kids and adults), loved old country music, animals and babies. He had a huge heart and gave awesome hugs. Richard was always telling a joke or trying to pull a prank. He worked at many jobs over the years and if it had a motor he could drive it. He grew up wanting to be a trucker and took that passion to various companies around the Valley. Richard loved telling stories from “on the road” even if you had heard many times before. The last few years was a challenge for him, and although taken from us too soon, we know he is now free from his lifetime battle with alcoholism and can rest in peace. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Alice (Pearse) Covey; fur babies, Captain, Morgan and Maggie. Left to mourn are sisters, Holli (Stan) and Kelly (Bill); nephew, Aidan (Sarah); nieces, Jenna and Nora; aunts, Marg and Donna; cousins; friends; and special kitty, Taz. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. All are welcome to attend the graveside service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 10, in Berwick Cemetery, Main St., Berwick, with Rev. Jennifer Riley officiating. A reception will follow in the Woodville Community Centre. No flowers by request, donations in his memory may be made to Kings Co. S.P.C.A. or to your favourite charity.
