Remi died peacefully at the age of 78.
Remi was a proud graduate and employee of McGill University. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts (Art History, 1979) and Master of Library Sciences (1981) he worked for McGill Library Services (Medical, Life Sciences) until he retired in 2009. Remi participated in, and demonstrated outstanding loyalty to, the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Through his personal leadership, many years of work and efforts with McGill’s Gamma Lambda Chapter, he was inducted into the Order of Constantine which is considered to be the highest honour that the International Sigma Chi Fraternity bestows upon one of its members. In addition, Remi was awarded the Grand Consul’s citation for his outstanding service to the Fraternity and the William T. Bringham Best House Corporation Officer award.
Remi will be remembered for his deep interest in others, incredible memory, quick wit and captivating storytelling.
Remi was uncle to Rosemary Polomeno (Robert), Nino (Judy) Calafiore, Diana Daoust (Paul Cleland), Pierre Daoust, Danielle Daoust; brother in law to Paul Daoust, cousin to Dina Castracane; great uncle to Laura (Bill), Carla (Ari), Debra (Mark), Katherine (Khalil), Andrew (Leah), Jennifer (Chris) and Jay (Ashley). Predeceased by his parents Domenico and Yolanda; and his sisters Maria Calafiore (Vincenzo) and Domenica Daoust.
The care given to Remi during the last four challenging years at the CHSLD Centre d’hébergement de Saint-Henri was greatly appreciated.
A celebration of Remi’s life will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 11 AM at the Mount-Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de La Forest, Outremont, Quebec H2V 2P9. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
