Raymond’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Raymond Hugh Boughen of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, at the age of 85 years. Ray was born May 25, 1937, in Coronach, Saskatchewan.
Ray will be lovingly remembered by his children Patti (Rob) Zerr, Ryan (Rachel) Boughen, and wife Sandra, his grandchildren Taylor (Riley) Zerr, Kaitlyn Zerr, Noah Zerr, Tanner Zerr, Kyle Boughen, Dylan Boughen, and Bryce Boughen, and brother Reg (Eddie) Boughen of Alberta. Ray is predeceased by his brother Garth and sister-in-law Donna, sister Fran Sherwin and brother-in-law Pat, sister Grace and by his wife Pat, and young children Brent and Susan.
Ray was a proud educator, principal, city mayor, dedicated Rotarian, and Member of Parliament. Growing up on South Hill gave him fond memories of being a “South Hill kid,” and he often talked about those days and his lifelong friendships made up on that hill. He loved to travel and make trips to the lake, enjoy family Christmases in Moose Jaw, and be involved in many seasons of basketball and hockey, both as a coach to Ryan and as a fan to Ryan’s boys. He rarely missed a family outing to Langenburg to see the musical numbers that Patti, Rob and their family were involved in, and he was a proud fan of Noah’s football career. He was a supportive grandfather, often calling the kids to check on all their careers, sports, and adventures.
As a family, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Providence Place of Moose Jaw. The compassion and dignity shown to our dad in his final days will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held at Zion United Church, 423 Main St., Moose Jaw, SK on January 10, 2023, at 1:00 pm. Reverend Tim Ellis will officiate. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Ray’s name may be made to Providence Place of Moose Jaw.
In living memory of Ray, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Ltd.
