Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raleigh W. Wilkins, of Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B., loving and devoted husband of 51 years to Susan “Susie” (Johnson) Wilkins, which occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Raleigh and Alberta (MacEachern) Wilkins.
Raleigh and Susie enjoyed quiet summer days relaxing at the trailer with their good friends and furry companions. Raleigh was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, especially with his family. He enjoyed a good laugh and a great drink around the bonfire. More than anything, he loved his wife Susie and his family.
Raleigh is survived by his loving children, Wayne (April), Tony (Natalie), and Jennifer (Jeff) Morton; cherished grandchildren, Samantha, Alicia, Taylor, Bailey, Kale, Matthew and Zander; and great grandchildren, Henry and Oliver. Raleigh is survived by his siblings, David (Margo), Diane Doucette, Valerie (Raymond) Pitre, twin sister Roberta “Sis” (Eugene) Vidito, Leonard (Joan), and Steven (Judy); brother-in-law, John Craft and sister-in-law, Colleen Wilkins. Raleigh is also survived and will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Raleigh is predeceased by his brother, Douglas; sister, Joan Craft; and brother-in-law, Jim Doucette.
Raleigh’s family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the Cardiac Care Unit and Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion given to Raleigh during this difficult time. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Following cremation, a celebration of Raleigh’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or any charity of your choice.
