Pleman Manuel Wednesday October 5th 2022

Reginald Pleman Garfield Manuel
June 12, 1942 – October 05, 2022
It is with profound sadness that the family of Pleman Manuel announce his passing on October 5, 2022 at the age of 80 years, after a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Pleman is predeceased by his parents Reginald and Mildred Manuel, sister Sandra, brother Cecil, sister Pansy, sister in laws Valetta, Louise, Yvonne, Joy, Peggy, Carol, Jill, and Kathy, and brother in laws Bill, John, Dempsey, Jack, and Melvin.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Margaret of 50 years, son Steven(Mandy), daughters Stephanie(Greg), and Sara(Ryan), six beautiful grandchildren- William, Emma, Claire, Evan, Macey, and Ella, brother Elmore(Roxina), sisters in law Maxine, Sophie, and Ellen, brother in law Scott, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Dad was born on Exploit’s Island, NL, however has been a long time resident of Gander NL for over 60 years. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, and a great friend to all who knew him.
Dad had a long career in Public Service with Flight Services in Gander, and was fortunate to retire at a younger age, which he jokingly referred to as “Freedom 52”. Dad also loved being a volunteer firefighter with the Gander Fire Department for 20+ years. He often spoke of his experience as a firefighter during the Arrow Air crash in 1985, of which he was humbled to be able to help.
Dad was an avid sports fan, he loved anything related to hockey, baseball, or golf, and was a true Montreal Canadiens fan. He enjoyed team sports, played in a bowling and curling league for many years, and remained active for as long as he could. After he retired he was often found daily at the Fire Hall playing pool, or meeting friends for seniors coffee hour.
Dad coached minor hockey when he had a young family, and later also played and coached hockey with the Air Traffic Control hockey team for many memorable years. Dad loved to travel, and his hockey coaching gave him to the opportunity to visit many different countries. He particular enjoyed traveling to Europe, and visiting Russia twice.
Dad was a very skilled carpenter, and wood working projects were his passion. This included building houses, patios, fences, and finishing basements to name a few. He truly was a Jack of all trades.
Anyone who knew Dad will be quick to tell you that he was a very humorous person, never without a joke or a smile. We still hear stories of how he enjoyed pranking friends at times, and would do anything for a laugh.
Dad had a heart of gold, was always there to support family and friends and lend a helping hand. His presence, love, and humor will be forever missed, and never replaced in our hearts. We were so blessed to have him.
Family will be receiving friends at Stacey’s Funeral Home on Saturday October 8th, 2022 from 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Sunday October 9th, 2022 at 3:00 p.m., from Evangel Pentecostal Community Church.
