Olive Bell Sunday September 18 2022

BELL: Olive
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Olive Loreen Bell in her home surrounded by family on Sunday, September 18th, 2022.
Olive is predeceased by the love of her life, Arthur Bell, sharing 66 years of marriage together. They began their early years raising a family and launching their family business, Art Bell Fruit Farm. It was an inspiring partnership in life to witness and inspire us all. Olive’s beautiful smile always brought him happiness, especially in his last moments. Mom and Dad loved visiting relatives and gathered extended family history through pictures and stories. Mom loved quilting, knitting, sewing, and baking for those she loved, leaving us with priceless gifts. She was a proud long-time member of Holmesville Ladies Quilting Group.
We were so happy we could honour her wishes and with coordinated efforts, kept her in her home where she found eternal peace. During these months we enjoyed precious moments, countless stories, and treasured memories. We witnessed the woman we loved, who everyday, true to her core, was deeply humble, positive, happy, and loved her family deeply. Listening to her speak so highly of her children and each grandchild, we knew family was core to her heart. Born with a weakened heart, it became her core strength with a resilience we can both admire and hope to emulate. She loved deeply, never complained, and was such a positive light to everyone. She also loved her flower gardens and her hummingbirds, who came to visit her window daily.
Of all the things dear to Olive, her family was the most important. Blessed to call her mom are Jim and Gwen (nee Pickett) Bell of Goderich Township, Cheryl (Bell) Gomez of Mississauga and her late husband Oscar, Scott and Erin (nee Nagle) Bell of Oakville, and Travis and Karolina (nee Kondovski) Bell of Clarkson.
Olive was predeceased by her parents Mark and Cecilina Cardiff and her seven older siblings; William and Frances* Cardiff, Verna Cardiff, Jack and Margaret* Cardiff, George and Rhea* Cardiff, Pete and Helen* Cardiff, Viola and Archie*Riley, and Vera and Lloyd* Weber. She is also predeceased by her sisters/brothers-in-laws; Ken* Royal, Robert* Markham, Stu* Pole, Bill* Burke, Adeline* Bell, Arnold Bell, Jean and Russell* Phillips and David (infant) Bell.
She is survived by Art’s siblings and their spouses* who stayed close despite great distances across the country; Norman and Diane* Bell, Walter and Cathy* Bell, Luella Royal, David and Joanne* Bell, Irene Markham, Shirley Pole, Lois Burke, Gerald Bell, and Olga* Bell. She will also be missed by an abundance of nieces and nephews.
Olive was a devoted Gramma to Alaina and David*, Jamie and Danica*, Jenny and Kyle*, Richard, Dylan, Jordyn, Connor, Kyla, Julia, Olivia, and Madelyn. They will all fondly remember Gramma’s pies, peanut butter cookies, extensive pictures and especially the dinner-plate Dahlias that came along with her loving hugs and unconditional support.
We are indebted to the extraordinary care of her support team including PSWs from ONECARE, Nurses and e-shift PSWs from CarePartners, and our weekend PSW angels. All made sure that Olive had the best care in her own house, and they became part of the extended family. We could not have done this without them.
As per Olive’s wishes, we are planning an internment at Maitland Cemetery, and a Funeral service to be held at Falconer Funeral Home – Bluewater Chapel in Goderich on Saturday, October 8th at 10am followed by reception at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to ONECARE (www.onecaresupport.ca/donate/) and CarePartners (www.carepartners.ca) as well as Clinton Public Hospital Foundation (www.cphfoundation.ca/) in recognition of their exceptional support and care for Art and Olive.
