Nicholas (Nick) Nemeroff
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Nick Nemeroff, on Monday, June 27, 2022. Beloved son of Howard and Joanne. Wonderful brother and brother-in-law of Davida and Josh, Alex and Tracy Nemeroff. Incredible uncle of Ora, Imogene, Leo and Marina. Adored grandson of the late Archie Nemeroff.
Raised in Montreal-West, Nick attended the Royal West Academy and went on to graduate from the Radio and Television program at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson). He leaves behind a large group of dedicated friends spread across the many places he has lived: Montreal, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Australia. Nick’s dedication to stand-up comedy was admirable and produced amazing results. He performed on Conan before the age of 30 and was featured in multiple TV tapings, most recently, CTV’s Roast Battle Canada. He drew acclaim in Canada and the US, becoming both a ‘comic’s comic’ and a hit with crowds who were enamoured by his unique cadence, labyrinthine deadpan, and fresh take on misdirection-driven comedy. If Nick was on a comedy show, he was guaranteed to leave with new fans. And he deserved to, because comedy was, in many ways, his life—even though his stand-up album was called « The Pursuit of Comedy Has Ruined My Life,” which earned him many accolades including a JUNO Award nomination in 2021. In addition to his craft, Nick’s family, friends, and The Montreal Canadiens were all of great importance to him. Endlessly sweet, supportive of others, humble about his many skills and achievements, Nick Nemeroff lived his life doing what he loved, and that is how he will be remembered. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Monday, July 4 at 2:00 p.m. One of the last things Nick did was to donate money to Planned Parenthood. As such, in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Planned Parenthood chapter of your choice.
