Obituary
Michael (Mike) Greenwald- loving husband, father of two, and friend of many- passed away suddenly on October 28th, 2022 at the age of 54 while heading home to his family farm.
Michael was born in Unity Saskatchewan August 6th, 1968 to devoted parents Raymond Greenwald and Sherry Houchen. He was a proud big brother to Murray and Tracy. In his first thirteen years, before her passing, he spent a lot of time with his grandmother Frances Houchen and wouldn’t be embarrassed to say he was a grandma’s boy. He moved to Edmonton in 1990 where he pursued his welding career. He spent many years with Trimac Transportation where he claimed he hired thousands of people. Over fifteen years ago he began teaching welding at NAIT letting us all know that he was considered “the man, the myth, the legend” by his students.
Mike is preceded in death by his loving mother Sherry who he missed every day since her passing in 2018 always saying how he was her baby.
Mike leaves behind his wife of 18 years Gina, and his whole world his daughter Brooke and his son Myles. He also leaves behind his Dad, Raymond, and his brother Murray and sister Tracy as well as many nieces and nephews, aunties and uncles, cousins and friends who he all loved dearly.
Through the years, Mike enjoyed sledding back home in Saskatchewan with his kids and family and friends as well as sledding in the mountains with his son. Sledding season was all year round in our house. Mike was passionate about many things including his thumb wrestlers, t-shirts and especially his wiener dogs and leaves behind three who won’t be the same without him. If Mike could give parting words he would have a vodka diet pepsi in hand and would say cheers everybody.
In his memory, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Michael James Greenwald October 28 2022..
