Obituary
Passed away peacefully while in the presence of his loving family, at the Health Science Centre, St. John’s, on Monday, November 7, 2022, Michael Cahill, of Point La Haye, St. Mary’s Bay, aged 87 years.
Predeceased by his parents Francis & Elizabeth Cahill, sister Josephine (Sylvester) Fagan and Uriel (Larry) Fagan; brothers: John, Frank and Adrian and all other members of the Cahill and Yetman Families.
Leaving to mourn his loving wife and best friend for 64 years Madeline (nee Yetman), his children: Patsy (Ronnie) Dillon, Gerry (Irene), Sharon (Donnie) Linehan, Michael (Susan) and Jimmy (Bev), his grandchildren: Christopher (Krista), Matthew, Amanda, Justin (Meagan), Gillian, Brady, Brandon, April (Ryan), Kaitlyn (Yaw) and Michael (Kathleen), great-grandchild Olivia, brother Patrick (Anita), sisters Betty (Lawrence) Butler and Marg (Hilary) Gibbons; sisters-in-law: Catherine Cahill, Geraldine Cahill, Anne Cahill and Mercedes Critch, brother-in-law Anthony Yetman (Mary) and a large circle of nieces, nephews relatives and friends, especially his two fur babies Trixie and Hobo and his long time companion, Beauty his horse.
A special thank you is extended to doctors, nurses and staff of Health Science – 5 South B (Urology Unit) for taking such good care of Dad over the past 11 weeks; to all his homecare workers a special thank you for all your compassion and loving care over the past year and to the Best of Care Ltd., thank you for your support; a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Thomas McGarry for all his home visits and for being just a phone call away when needed – we know you always enjoyed Dad’s sense of humour and to Todd and Staff of St. Mary’s Pharmacy and Gibbons’ Ambulance Service for their care and support over the years.
Resting at Gibbons Funeral Home, St. Mary’s, on Tuesday, November 8, from 7 – 9pm (family only) and Wednesday, November 9, from 12 – 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 10, at 11am, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, St. Mary’s. Burial to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Parkinson Society of NL. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Gibbons’ Funeral Home, St. Mary’s.
