Obituary of Maurice Jean
Maurice Joseph Gérard Jean
May 12 1934 – June 25 2022
Our papa peacefully made his transition into the afterlife surrounded by love and light, and is now reunited with his beloved son Christian.
Born in Lamèque N.B., our beloved papa began his life’s journey as a young student at le Couvent Jesus-Marie de Lamèque. He continued his classical education at l’Université Saint-Joseph in Memramcook N.B. before joining the ranks of the Canadian Armed Forces. As a member of the 22e Régiment, he proudly served as a paratrooper both in Canada and Europe. He then moved to Southwestern Ontario with his young family during the industrial boom of the mid-sixties, and worked for 30 years at Ford Motor Company before retiring. A deeply spiritual man, he had a great passion for gardening and History but both paled in comparison to his greatest passion and love, his mother tongue le français!
Papa is survived by his wife Judy (née Rhéaume), his 3 daughters, Carole (Peter), Marie-France (Karen), Nathalie (Chris) and stepdaughter Lisa. His five grandchildren, Nathan, Justin (Chantalle), Nicholas, Isabelle, Lily, his beloved sister Patricia, the mother of his children Anna (Larocque-Bulcke), sisters-in-law Lorraine and Louise as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Azade and Esther Jean (née Duguay), his cherished son Christian “Kiki’’ Maurice Jean, his stepson Christopher and his siblings: Lorenzo, Bernadette, Anna, Achille, Valère, Bernard, Bertin and Antonio. Our papa served for many years as a member of Les Chevaliers de Colomb and Le Club Richelieu of Windsor Ont. He was a very grateful member of Alcoholics Anonymous with 39 years of sobriety and aside from his children considered this his greatest achievement. We will be forever grateful to the staff at Extendicare Southwood Lakes for the many years of incredible care and love you bestowed upon our beloved papa; you were a second family to him. We also wish to extend our gratitude to the staff at Windsor Regional Hospitals for their very kind and compassionate care. Being a simple and humble man, our papa did not wish for any traditional funeral. Arrangements entrusted to Windsor Chapel Funeral Home, direct cremation with eventual return home to his cherished Acadie, to rest with his parents by the sea. In honour of our father’s life, if one so chooses, donations can be made to the following local charities, The Heart and Stroke Foundation Click here to donate to Heart & Stroke Foundation , M.A.A.D Click here to donate to MADD , The House of Sophrosyne Click here to donate to House of Sophrosyne or Hiatus House Click here to donate to Hiatus House .
