Mary Hébert
1932-2022
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the
peaceful passing of Mary Hébert at her home. Surrounded by
her beloved husband and children, she helped ease their overwhelming
sadness during her illness with her grace, humor, and wise
words.
A former nurse and flight attendant, Mary’s
greatest success was her role as wife and mother. She championed her
family with unshakeable love, non-judgemental support, kindness, and
wisdom.
Mary loved to read. She designed and created beautiful
quilts. She was a talented seamstress and gardener. She was easily
recognized in her community by her beautiful smile and kind
disposition. The passing of time will never extinguish her loving
light.
Born in Toronto to the late Cecil and Marie (Von Zuben)
Gillespie, she is survived by her husband René, children
Suzanne Cawley (Rick), Paul Hébert (Kim), Michelle
Hébert, Lise Hébert (Glendon Gorham), and
Monique Lefebvre (Alain), siblings Joan MacIsaac, Len Gillespie
(Mary), Laurie Gillespie (Elva), Elaine Hary (Tibor), and John
Gillespie (Maureen), as well as her grandchildren Erika, Alex,
Justine, Max, Luc, and Liam. Besides her parents, she is predeceased
by her siblings Ken Gillespie and Neil Gillespie.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the palliative care
team at EMH and a special heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Ronald
Fontaine, whose kindness and support will never be
forgotten.
A service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd,
Riverview (869-2007) on Friday, August 19th at
11:00am with Father Phil Mulligan presiding. Her family will receive
friends and relatives on Thursday, August 18th
from 6-8pm. Masks are encouraged for both events.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are welcome to
support hospice services or a charity of your choosing.
